Beach scene

I bought this watercolor in Emerald Isle, North Carolina, where artist Elaine Cox had a little roadside stand set up beneath an umbrella.

The best part of blogging may be giveaways like the one sponsored earlier this month by the Flip Flop Shop, located in Castleton Square Mall. When those entries start rolling in, I get excited—proof that it really is better to give than receive!

Whether a comment comes from someone I barely know or a familiar friend, it’s rewarding to hear from people. Even when answering a simple question like how to relax, people are profoundly interesting. I discover things I might never have known. To wit: one of my friends met Audrey Hepburn—live and in person. (I need to know more about that, Brenda!) From another, I learned that our mutual friend Stacy King had a particular fondness for pens.

I root for every entry—which is why I let my husband draw all the random winners. (It keeps me from drawing with one eye open.) It’s my pleasure to announce last week’s winners, both from the Indianapolis area.

And the winners are…

Olivia O. is a teen reader who loves vintage clothes. It just so happens that she is also a HUGE Audrey Hepburn fan. This is not her first appearance on the blog. Back in December of 2012, Olivia shared a photo of a pair of red vintage shoes she had recently nabbed. They are featured in this post.

Lara C. is a great friend who works very hard for a non-profit organization that is near and dear to my heart, Coburn Place. You can read about Coburn Place here. If anyone deserves to kick off her shoes and wander around (in flip flops) with reckless abandon, it’s Lara. (Anyone want to join me at Blue Breakfast this year? Give me a shout! Lara and her colleagues would love to have more guests.)

Congratulations, Olivia and Lara! I hope your new flip-flops put you in a summer state of mind.

Thank you one and all for your fabulous relaxation tips and participation in the giveaway! I plan to summarize your tips in a later post! And most of all, thanks to the Flip Flop Shop for sponsoring this giveaway.

Life is short. Wear the good stuff.
