I always look forward to compiling my favorite books at the end of the year, especially in the fashion category. This year, I wanted to get a little help from my friends. So I’m inviting you to submit your favorite books that are either a) fashion-related non-fiction or b) have plots and characters that are mingled with fashion. Ideally, let’s aim for a list that was actually published in 2012. If it straddles last year by a little and you read it this year, we’ll still count it. Fiction or non-fiction–it matters not! I’m anxious to see what you’ve been reading.
So what’s your favorite 2012 fashion-related book of the year? I’m giving away a Chanel #473 Coromandel Nail Polish to a random drawing of three commenters who share their top pick(s). (I’ll draw the winners on December 20.) Have I mentioned that the manicure I gave myself with this polish is now on its ninth day and still kicking??

I’m not sure about books for this year (I’ve been swamped with school reading), but last year two fabulous novels about vintage clothing came out that I highly recommend. The Secret Lives of Dresses by Erin McKean and A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff.
I’m excited to see what everyone else recommends so I can catch up!

Thank you, Cassie! I still want to see that tartan plaid dress you made!

The only thing i remember reading was A Vintage Affair too! I almost never read non-fiction, so no help there.
I meant to send this along to you tho!

For me, THEE fashion book of the year was Ari Seth Cohen’s Advanced Style – I loved his blog, but the book- to see these older women celebrated like super models was a major style and sartorical game changer.
