I can hardly believe it, but it has been two years since I started my vintage store and blog. In that time, I learned at least three things: 1) I don’t know many people who WEAR vintage the way I do 2) I know even fewer who BUY vintage things and 3) I LOVE blogging about all things vintage.
So what’s a girl to do with a collection of vintage clothes, part of which she can’t even wear? Nothing would make me happier than to give them away. From now until they are gone, I’ll be featuring a weekly giveaway. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate a passion for vintage. Besides, the sooner I free myself of my collection, the more time and space I’ll have for blogging here at Dressed Her Days Vintage and at a new site I’m editing, Relevant Vogue.com, a style blog inspired by women over 50.
So here’s how The Great Giveaway will work: Each week, I’ll post at least one photograph of a vintage garment or accessory I’m giving away. I’ll include the measurements of the garment so you can determine if it’s one that would work on your body. If you want the garment, go to my blog and make a short (50 words or less) comment sharing what you love about it most, how you intend to wear it, and maybe something it reminds you of. It doesn’t have to be a dissertation. I’ll place all the names in a hat and draw the winner. (Not to worry, I’ll have my hubby to keep me honest.) To claim the dress, all I ask is that you pay me for postage or shipping. If you live in the Indy area, I’ll arrange to meet you to deliver the dress. One more thing: all winners must agree to provide a photograph of yourself wearing the garment or accessory or allow me to photograph you.
Let the games begin with this 1955 cocktail dress and the original description of the dress! Please help me spread the word by sharing this with all your Facebook and Twitter friends.

Description: This chiffon overdress has flat-pleated empire bodice and dirndl skirt, joined by a wide rhinestone-studded cummerbund. The dress zips at the side and fastens by hook and eye at the round-collared neckline just above a keyhole opening in the back. Cap-length dolman sleeves. Note: there is a tiny tear near the hemline, smaller than a penny and hardly noticeable because of the skirt’s fullness.

I love this dress. I assumed so many people would that my lack of eloquence would doom me to failure.

I love the pleats at the top of the dress as well as the cummerbund. It would make such a lovely little party dress. Very elegant and charming.

This is the perfect dress for someone tall with a bit of a pear shape. Accents a slender waist yet hides a myriad of sins below. And I have just the shoes to match–with a bit of a rhinestone accent. Gorgeous, Crystal!

Melanie, you’re so right! This one is probably one of my all time favorites.
I’m doing the drawing today and there are only three entries so you’ve got at least a 33 percent chance of winning this one!
