We’re bound for the beaches of South Haven, Michigan, a first time vacation destination for us. I wanted something easy for travel, but suitable for a business dinner in Fort Wayne, Indiana at Joseph Decuis, one of the few farm to fork dining establishments here in Indiana. They pride themselves on fresh, seasonal foods that harken back to an earlier time, when people gathered around food they grew and raised themselves.
This 1960s trapeze dress is an Adele Martin Original, lightweight and comfortable–especially if you leave it unbelted! I’m wearing it with a pair of brown wedges from Payless, a brass belt and a chunky bracelet, both from Chico’s. I love the neon vibe which isn’t over the top when I tone it down with tamer accessories.
What vintage wear are you planning to wear on your vacation?
Life is short. Wear the good stuff.

Love the dress! And you made me look up trapeze dress! I had no idea why it was called such. Now I’m trying to find the term for an item of clothing I had back in the 60’s that was similar to a culotte but instead of wide shorts, this garment had close fitting shorts with a flap in the front and back that made it look like a skirt with open sides. Any idea?

Yes! Didn’t we used to call them “scooter skirts?” Familiar? Thanks for the comment and the compliment, which is high praise coming from one of my icons of style.
