I’m happy to announce that Ashley P., author of  the popular blog Bramblewood Fashion, is the winner of last week’s giveaway. I have a soft spot in my heart for the 1960s dress I’m giving away this week. So soft that I’m separating it from the  Chanel-inspired jacket that was made to match. Hey, it’s the closest thing I may ever have to a Chanel and it fits. I’m keeping it! The dress? Well, sadly the hip measurement does not permit me to wear it tastefully. Here’s what I desperately want you to understand about this dress: not many people living today have seen a dress so exquisitely made. It’s custom made by a very, very, very, very expert dressmaker who used the most sumptuous silk fabric you’ll ever see. Have I mentioned that the dressmaker was an expert seamstress? Are you hearing me?

It’s a special dress that should be worn by someone who really appreciates detail. Here it is with its original description, which includes the jacket I intend to keep.

1960 Floral Day Dress 

She was young, beautiful, and adored by all, yet she was already close to the abyss.

Condition: Excellent/Exquisite/Mint

Description: This flawless French imported silk dress and jacket is expertly crafted by a very fine dressmaker. Periwinkle blue/kelly green floral dress has a jewel neckline trimmed with a flat bow. A long, flat box pleat runs the length of the dress from collar to hem. Short dolman sleeves with underarm gussets and diagonal bust darts. Front/back waist darts on the skirt. A 33” adjustable self-belt (snap closure defines the waist. The Chanel-inspired jacket is lined in ivory silk, weighted inside by chains at the waist for a drape of perfection. Two slits at the front princess seams and beautifully crafted self-buttons.
