One great thing about a maxi in the summer: they conceal your chigger bites–and a whole lot of other things, too. It’s hard to feel good about baring my legs in a summer dress. Kinda sick of watering my flowers this summer. Every morning I come in from the yard with a new batch of bites. I’m finally applying OFF before I go out. What can I say? I’m a slow learner.

This black 1970s maxi is a groovy double-knit jacquard. This photo doesn’t do justice to the fabric, which is truly sensational. I bought it at IndySwank in the Fountain Square area of Indianapolis and paired it with a piece of jewelry from Chico’s for church yesterday. Love the way sleeveless dresses from the past are cut more generously. Notice how the edge of the sleeve extends to the shoulder? That seems classier to me.

Speaking of classy, I’m happy to announce the winner of the latest vintage giveaway is an old librarian buddy of mine, Emily Fleischer. It just so happens that Emily is a fabulous seamstress and knitter. I can’t imagine a more appreciative owner for this dress. Emily, I think you are going to love this one.

Stay tuned for the next vintage giveaway later this week.

Life is short. Wear the good stuff.
