Laura definitely has her Parisian Chic game on here in a V-neck sweater, slim jeans and a Michael Kors handbag borrowed from her sister, who scored it at a thrift store.

In  Parisian Chic, author Ines de la Fressange encourages women to find and copy their own not-so-famous fashion icons. One of my favorites is Laura Mangen, a high school junior who raises vegetables, roses, and sunflowers in her backyard. When she’s not working at the library as a page, she likes to draw and paint. (You should see the incredible murals Laura and her sister paint on the windows of a local library.)

I work with her two days a week where she’s an inspiration not just for her incredible sense of style, but her unfailingly cheerfulness and serenity. One her sisters says Laura is like that all of the time, even through life’s toughest spots.

After she graduates, Laura plans to attend college, studying either journalism or nursing. Whatever she decides and wherever she goes, Laura’s optimistic “high on life” attitude and her kind nature will be a blessing.
